Iceland Volcano Eruption August 2024 Date. Iceland is home to 33 active volcano systems, the highest number in europe. The eruption is east of mt sýlingarfell, in a very similar area to the last eruption at the end of may.
At fagradalsfjall, the first dike intrusion (the largest to date in this area) took place from 24 february until 19 march 2021, when an eruption began. The eruption is notably smaller than the previous one that started on august 22, with the current lava flow rate estimated at about 1,300 m³/s, compared to roughly 2,500 m³/s during the august event.
